About the Role
A fast-growing startup working at the intersection of municipal operations, public safety, and community development is seeking a Grant Project Manager & Writer to support multi-department city initiatives. You will be the primary point of contact for several municipal customers — including police departments, economic development teams, and city leadership — and will help translate their goals into clear, organized, fundable project plans and grant submissions.
This role is ideal for someone who:
Has direct experience working inside a municipal department (police, economic development, planning, city manager’s office, health, public works, etc.), or has written grants for municipalities.
Enjoys writing, organizing complex information, and helping public agencies secure funding.
Likes being involved in projects that improve communities, strengthen local government operations, and support public safety and economic development efforts.
Thrives in a startup environment where you have ownership, autonomy, and direct impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal partners across police, economic development, and multi-stakeholder city teams.
Lead the planning, writing, and submission of grants, proposals, and project briefs.
Gather requirements from different city departments and turn them into structured work plans.
Manage timelines, deliverables, and communication across multiple agencies.
Write clear, compelling drafts of funding applications, narrative sections, and supporting documents.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure customer success and project alignment.
Track grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and compliance benchmarks.
Support municipalities with project scoping, strategy development, and funding research.
Qualifications
Required:
Experience working directly inside a municipal department or writing grants specifically for municipalities.
Strong writing skills — ability to draft clear, concise, compelling project narratives.
Demonstrated project management ability with multiple stakeholders.
Comfortable working with police departments, economic development teams, and city leadership.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Preferred:
Familiarity with community development, public safety initiatives, or cross-departmental municipal projects.
Experience navigating federal, state, or local grant portals.
Understanding of municipal budgeting or procurement processes.
Background in government consulting, public administration, or nonprofit program management.
